This painting began in the Camberwell studios and was completed at home while in lockdown. It began as quite an organic looking painting, the initial marks created very fluidly with acrylic pouring medium and a roller brush. I applied the paint and medium and waited until it had almost dried and then removed what I could. This revealed images that were initially intended to be plant forms. When I picked it up again at home it took on a new direction becoming a response to the feeling of being in limbo due to lockdown.

This painting is the first large work created during lockdown. Prior to the pandemic restrictions my work concentrated on the larger global issues associated with the environment. I have become more focused on human ecology and individual ecosystems since March. I am responding to my relationships with the natural, built and social environments that I engage with and exploring how those interactions might affect the world we live in. Everything is connected.
